PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya K Area Zirakpur was established in1989 in Defence sector. Initially the school was only upto Class V and single section and gradually it came upto class X in the year 1994-95, but due to the demand from the public and defence it was converted to two section school from class I to X in the year 2004 and also class XI Science came up in 2004. Now it is functioning as double section School with Class XI, XII in science stream and commerce introduced in the session 2009-10. This school is 5 km away from the Chandigarh situated in Punjab, District Mohali. It comes under Chandigarh Region

Important milestones of growth:

Initially the school started running in the barracks and shifted to its own building which is constructed in 8.3 acres land.
Gradual year wise expansion in classes and sections leading to present status:
1989 Classes I to V Single Section

1995 Classes I to X Single Section

2004 Classes I to X two Sections & Class XI Science One section

2005 Class XII Science One Section

2010 at +2 Commerce stream One Section

2014 at +2 Arts stream One Section

The Primary section was running in barracks. The primary building is shifted to the newly constructed block in the month of October 2009.

Facilities available including games and sports facilities

Vidyalaya has well equipment computer labs with 67 computers and two resource rooms with LCD Projector and interactive Board. Also it has basket ball court and 100 meter track.
